A1 Final Assessment

The final checks what you learned in Units 1–7: Introductions, Family & Friends, Daily Routines & Time, Places & Directions, Shopping & Food, Hobbies & Likes/Dislikes, and the review. Follow the timing and instructions below.

Overview & Timing

Total time: ~60–70 minutes · Total points: 100

  • Listening — 12 min · 20 pts
  • Reading — 12 min · 20 pts
  • Grammar & Vocabulary — 12 min · 20 pts
  • Writing — 12–15 min · 20 pts
  • Speaking — 6–10 min (per student) · 20 pts

Teacher tip: Run Speaking in parallel (breakout room / second proctor) or after the written sections.

Part A — Listening (20 pts · 12 min)

Format: Three short audios (greetings, shopping, directions). Play each twice.

  1. Picture match (6 pts): choose the picture you hear (A/B/C).
  2. Key word tick (6 pts): tick 3 words you hear.
  3. Short answer (8 pts): 1–2 words (price, time, place).

Part B — Reading (20 pts · 12 min)

Format: One A1 paragraph (~130–160 words) about a learner’s day.

  1. Gist (4 pts): choose best title.
  2. Detail (8 pts): 4 × true/false + correct the false sentences.
  3. Vocabulary (8 pts): match 4 words to definitions/pictures.

Part C — Grammar & Vocabulary (20 pts · 12 min)

Grammar focus: to be; have/has got; present simple + do/does; there is/are; a/an; some/any; this/that/these/those; like + -ing; can/can’t.

  1. Choose (8 pts): 8 gaps (is/are; do/does; there is/are; some/any).
  2. Order the words (6 pts): 3 questions (e.g., “you / like / swimming / do”).
  3. Mini transform (6 pts): 3 sentences to negative or question form.

Part D — Writing (20 pts · 12–15 min)

Task: Write a short paragraph (6–8 sentences) introducing yourself and describing your daily routine and hobbies. Include at least: one time, one place, one food item, and one ability (can/can’t).

Part E — Speaking (20 pts · 6–10 min)

  1. Interview (8 pts): Introduce yourself; answer 3 questions (family, routine, hobbies).
  2. Functional mini role-play (6 pts): Shopping request or directions.
  3. Picture prompt (6 pts): Describe a simple scene (time/places/actions).

  • Objective items: 1 pt each unless noted
  • Short answers: spelling tolerated at A1

Grade bands (A1 Exit)
  • 90–100: Excellent (Ready for A2 fast-track)
  • 75–89: Pass (Proceed to A2)
  • 60–74: Conditional Pass (targeted review)
  • < 60: Not Yet (remedial plan + retake)

Academic Integrity

  • No translation apps or external help during the test.
  • Keep cameras on (online). Mics muted except during Speaking.
  • Teacher may randomize item order and use secure links.

Accommodations & Retakes

  • +25% extra time for documented needs.
  • Alternate listening (slightly slower) available.
  • Retake allowed within 7 days after targeted review.
